The Chugiak-Eagle River Foundation primarily supports organizations based in and which provide services that benefit the population of and communities within the Chugiak-Eagle River area.
Alaskan organizations that have received 501(c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service and are classified as "not a private foundation" under section 509(a) of the Code, and other qualifying not for profit organizations that have as their primary purpose, at least one of the following purposes: charitable, educational, eleemosynary, civic, patriotic, social, literary, cultural, athletic, scientific or trade association.
In selected cases, the Foundation may choose to fund projects undertaken by organizations that normally fall outside the above guidelines. For example:
Capital projects (furnishings, buildings, audio and video equipment, books, medical equipment, computers, art supplies, sports equipment, musical instruments, vehicles, etc.)
Special projects: Occasionally, the Foundation will consider funding the expansion or start-up of innovative programs that address issues of broad community or statewide significance. The project must demonstrate long-term benefits or impacts, and be initiated by an established organization(s) with a history of accomplishment.
The Chugiak-Eagle River Foundation concentrates its resources in the areas listed above. Generally, that means we cannot support many worthy requests including the following:
The Chugiak-Eagle River Foundation accepts grant applications year round. To review proposals, the Board generally meets three times per year. Proposals will be considered provided that they are submitted by January 1, April 1, or October 1.
Applications may be considered at anytime at the discretion of the Board. If an applicant organization is successful, a formal grant agreement will be sent. All applicants will be informed of the status of their proposals within 45 days from the submittal deadline.
Grant procedures are subject to change at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
